The atomic theory of matter is an excellent illustration of the process of science. Our understanding of the world around us is reshaped and refined with each scientific experiment. The first recorded idea of the atom comes from the ancient Greeks in the 400's B.C. Over the millennia, scientific experimentation has added to our knowledge of the atom, redefining what it is and what its structure is like."
This website will be the inside source of the eleven scientists who each contributed to our present day understanding of the atom. These scientists include: Democritus, Aristotle, John Dalton, JJ Thomson, Ernest Rutherford, Robert Millikan, James Chadwick, Louis De Broglie, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, and Heisenberg. Each and everyone of these men have impacted science and what we know about the atom and atomic theory today by providing us with knowledge based on scientific experiments performed and research.
